The "Download options" page allows you to modify your packaging and download options. You can build a fix package tailored for a specific system or a more general package for all your systems. You can also specify the method in which you will receive your selected fixes.
Provide a name to identify this order
This name is used when resuming a Download Director image order or when working with your recent orders. You can use the default order name, which is [current date + current time], or you can create your own name. The name can contain spaces and numeric or alphabetic characters and can be up to 36 characters long.
Customize your order
- You can reduce the size of your order by connecting to your system and removing any PTFs that are already on the system. PTFs that are applied, loaded, or superseded will be removed from your download list, as well as any PTFs whose savefiles are in the QGPL library on the system.
- When customizing your order, you will be asked to enter the system's hostname or IP address and a profile name and password on the system.
- Make sure your system and PC both meet all of the requirements for connecting to your system.
- Only orders containing PTFs for V5R3 or later releases can be customized.
Download individual fixes directly to my system
- If you choose this option, the savefiles and cover letters for the PTFs in your download list will be downloaded directly to your system. For any group PTFs in your download list, the group level will also be updated on your system.
- When you connect to your system for the download you will be asked to enter the system's hostname or IP address and a profile name and password on the system if you have not connected to your system already for this order. Make sure your system and PC both meet all of the requirements for connecting to your system.
- If you customized your order, only the PTFs that are not already on your system will be downloaded. If your order was not customized, however, then any PTFs whose savefiles are not already in QGPL will be downloaded, regardless of whether they are already applied on the system or not.
- This option is only available for V5R3 and later PTFs.
Download virtual images using Download Director
- Selecting this option will order the PTFs in your download list to be delivered as one or more virtual DVD-ROM image files.
- After placing the order, you will be given an estimated time when your order will be ready. Return to Fix Central after that time and select “Resume my pending orders” to begin the download.
- When your order is ready, you will be able to download it to your PC where you can burn it to disc or transfer it to your system yourself, or you can download it directly to a new or existing image catalog on your system. Make sure your system and PC both meet all of the requirements for connecting to your system.
- This option is only available for V5R3 and later PTFs.
Download virtual images using FTPS/SFTP
- If this method is selected, the PTFs in your download list will be electronically delivered from an IBM FTP site as one or more virtual DVD-ROM image files.
- Enter your email address (this field will be pre-filled with the email address specified in your IBM web user profile) so that you can be notified about the status of your order. You will receive one email when your order is received and two more emails when it is ready containing instructions to download your images (temp ID and password are sent in separate emails).
You can customize a portion of the directory name where the files are stored, and you can customize the base file name for the binary images. Enter descriptive values in the Directory name and Base file name fields that will help you identify your order.
The Directory name field will automatically be converted to lower case, but the File name field can contain mixed-case characters. Identifiers are appended to the specified file name to individually identify each image. These values are used to create part of the path to the images on the FTP server. For example, if you enter nysys1 for the Directory name, and DBGroup for the File name, the directory structure and CD image names on the FTP server will be similar to the following:
/B1234567/nysys1/C/DBGroup_1.bin
/B1234567/nysys1/C/DBGroup_2.bin
...
/B1234567/nysys1/C/DBGroup_n.bin - This option is available for fixes of all releases.
- Refer to Secure FTP downloads for IBM i PTFs for more details.
Order fixes on physical media
- Use this option to request that the fixes in your download list be shipped to you on one or more DVDs.
- Verify your email address and shipping address. You will be emailed when your order is shipped.
- This option is available for fixes of all releases.
Include requisites
- If selected, all requisite PTFs for the PTF numbers selected in the order are also delivered as part of the order. When including requisite PTFs, it is possible that more PTFs will be downloaded to your system than those listed in the order. If there are any group PTFs in your order, this option is automatically selected and cannot be unselected.
- If unselected, only the PTF numbers selected in the order are delivered as part of the order. No requisite PTFs are processed.
- Requisite PTFs are not considered when customizing your order. Only the selected PTFs will be checked against the inventory of your system, and if you choose to include requisites they will be added when you place your order. However, if you customize your order and then select “Download individual fixes directly to my system” the requisites will be ordered but not actually downloaded if they are already installed on your system.
